RIP – Santuza Cambraia Naves

One of the leading scholars on Brazilian music, Santuza Cambraia Naves, passed away last week at the age of 59. While little-known outside of Brazil (or even in Brazil), she was one of the key figures in helping scholars think about Brazilian music (and music more generally) in the past and the present. Brazilian scholars, Brazilianistas, ethno-musicologists, and anybody with a more-than-passing interest in music have lost a great mind. Descanse em paz.
